| D`no If there is a forum for this already but thort i would start one off! Here is my pride n joy Its a 1.3 Golf mk2 C standard engine at the moment, Savage exhaust and some interior bits n bobs, Full speaker conversion inside (got fed up of paper ones lol) And the banner i had done to advertise the forum in yorkshire! I know its not up to some of your standards of mk2`s at the mo but it is a ongoing project | |

| Sorry didnt know. And respray soon hopefully some new alloys and a g40 engine conversion but that wont be for a while maybe a few years yet, At the minuit its only little bits like tidying the inside and outside up and finishing the sound system, It is a old one though like you say there aint many a reg`s still strong and standard, Only rust i have found is a bit of corrosion on the near side back arch and a bit of bubbling on the paintwork which is guaranteed a suppose for a car this age. Bargain for 100 quid and only problems i am having is with the carb pierburg crap lol it wont stay tuned for some reason which is costing me 40 quid a go to get it redone | |

| Pierberg's are cack mate. Save your money and get a weber. Should be able to get 2nd hand one for around £100. Try looking on the polo forums for one. | |

| p**s of piece to swap a carb mate, just try to get one off an engine the same size and type as yours, hopefully the jetting will be the same or very close to what you need then. Even a beginner with very few tools could swap one in under an hour. Just keep all your gasket surfaces clean and flat and your laughing. A Haynes manual will provide some good tips when starting out. Get it set up on the rollers when your done and it will be loads better!
As for K&N's on carbed engines they can provide more power if matched up with a decent full exhaust including manifold, corrected jetting, ported etc. On my standard or lightly tuned Mini engines they just made alot of noise. Really need a ram pipe inside the filter on the bolt on ones to "smooth" the air flow which is where we saw a difference on me mates 1293cc Mini with a ram pipe and K&N bolt-on cone filter. The K&N replacement panel filters that go in your standard air filter assy seem a good idea though I've never actually tried one myself! | |

| That carb is really for the 1.6 and 1.8 models. Maybe too large for a 1.1 or 1.3 (I forgot which engine yours is!). | |

| You could turbo it but you'd want a complete G40 engine to take the strain. The carb my fit. Google fast road cars and that a company who is a weber specialist, he will know for sure! | |

| by the time youve messed around with carbs and declaring them and other stuff you may as well go the full hog and dump one of these in... will give you biggest smiles due to the power and noise... and dont listen to all that 1.8t stuff..... a vr6 conversion is mucho cheapness... im also willing to let any person serious about bungin one of these lumps into a smaller car have a razz in mine to see what it goes like in a heavy mk3 shell. you pay the fuel and make sure your covered to drive it, if you crash it or blow it up simple as , you pay or you never display again...well not in this lifetime anyway!! |

| Thats a tempting offer Gaz, I've drove a VR but it was fitted to a Sharan! This mk2 with a 2.9 VR6 in at rally cross two weeks ago was fast! | |
