This noise seems to be coming from somewhere behind the dash on drivers side, gets faster, faster i go................. anyone?? also heaters packed up blowin warm air

may be worth testing heater bypass valve. Had same problem twice myself. Thought if was matrix get damp inside car. Just a idea

yeah dont sound like the matrix to me.... Does the heater still blow though? just cold air?

where the heater pipes go through bulk head you will find a plastic or alloy housing fitted to pipes. One of the outlets will return to expansion tank. Run car to temp & see if pipes get hot after the valve. Gsf sell em common vag fault. If ur steaming up may just be how cold it is. I had this happen .

far as im aware same on Vr m8. If the valve fails the water is returned to expansion tank via small rubber pipe. The valve was a recall item from VW on corrados & mk2 golf.

i would replace it anyway m8 sounds like the problem. Try Gsf for the valve. I think these may be obselete from vw dealers? They are for rados got 1 of breakers for mine. Will need to bleed coolant system & add G12 .
