| Picked this up the other week as I've been after a MK2 GTI for a while. The car drove well but as a matter of course I'll service and replace where required. Its quite tidy in and out with a few slight niggles but nothing that can't be sorted. Previous owner had a crazed addiction to pale blue enamel paint so its been a battle under the bonnet with that so far. No stereo as it was the mother of all abortions behind the dash but fitted a new headunit yesterday to enjoy the pure quality from the standard outputs (to be rectified asap). List of work planned: *Top end overhaul -New stem seals, valve lapping, clearances, new cambelt, cambelt tensioner *New throttle cable *Gearbox oil change *Clutch Thrust bearing and Clutch replacement *Filters and Oil change *Recondition inlet throttle body and cam cover *Toyo Proxes T1-R's boots all round (S's if still available ) *Ashley 4-1 Manifold *Scorp Stainless system let me know what you think, more pics to follow shortly. looking for some deepdish BBS... sam | |

| Been real busy the last couple of weeks with courses but in between I've managed to fit: -Toyo T1-R Proxes all round -Ashley Competition 4 into 1 Manifold -Ashley Competition Full Stainless Exhaust system (twin tail pipe) -Alpine Head Unit -Vibe Slick speakers -Replaced coolant with premium antifreeze (mmm pink) and header tank overflow/return hose -About 90% of the blue paint under the bonnet has been taken care of now Still to do: Replace thermostat, PAS belt, boot floor and carpet, pull dent from n/s wing, floor pan sealing, Speedo cable, Dash Bulbs Today I've got those crappy limo black tints coming out and 50% tints going in. Pics to follow shortly vwchimp I'm gonna need some parts from you, maybe if you're at the meet tomorrow that'll be good. | |

| All going well like this... then this happened... so I've had to resort to this... I'll get a new diode/brush for the alternator in the morning Got new handbrake cables to fit now and suspect a dodgy nearside cv joint so will replace both driveshafts I think. | |

| Well after stripping the head off and making sure all was well inside (slight phobia of valve seat cracks and suspect hydraulic tappets) I've managed to source a complete motor which I'm collecting tomorrow evening so I can rebuild the original motor without rushing at a later date. In the mean time I've managed to: -Strip the cylinder head off and ancillaries down to the block -Re-soldered all sensor connections and cleaned multiblocks -Overhaul the front calipers -Fit new EBC Greenstuff Pads up front -Fit new Brembo Max discs on the front -Fit new handbrake cables -Overhaul the rear calipers -Clean up the Braided Hoses -Re-attached under-car heat shields to stop rattles -Remove front grille and brow If any one can help I'm after some fog lights to fit the current bumper, just thought someone might have a set knocking around they want to sell. sadly hunger stopped play tonight so this is as she stands now... lol... the ashley | |

| cheers Picked up the motor last night, checked it through and got real lucky. New sump pan, new dizzy, new stem seals, valves lapped, new cambelt and came with the top cover for the belt too. Last guy did it ready to drop into a MK1 but never got round to finding the car. 8 hour round trip success! Degreased, block and head painted, new thermostat and my cam cover fitted. now ready to lift out the old lump first thing in the morning. Need to get a gear linkage kit and steering column boot for the bay and get cleaning asap. Running tomorrow night fingers crossed | |
