| Drove my car fifty yards to the shop this morning to buy my smokes, when i came out it wont start. When i turn the key it sounds like a strobe light clicking, wont even turn over. Need to sort it today cos im coming on the tour!!!! JIM MK2 golf gti 8v | |

| Check ya battery and its connections, main engine to body earth, starter terminals and the starter its self. Sounds to me like ya starter solenoid is working just not getting enough juice. If all else fails hit the starter with a hammer, it might be stuck lol! | |

| got a new battery on it and it works fine now! im just hoping that it doesnt drain it. there must have been something sucking out all that juice. thanks for the help, hopefully ill see you all tomorrow. ill try and make it to barneys for 10 but im supposed to be working!!! ill try and blag it JIM | |

| Have you had the red charging light illuminate on your dash lately? Sometimes it comes on very dim and can't be seen during the day. Mine did this about 4 weeks ago and driving at night i spotted the flicker. I investigated, found the battery was low and not charging. Went straight to alternator and removed the regulator (2 phillips head screws) to find one contact brush had completed eroded away and the other had chipped in half. Rpelaced the regulator pack and charges perfect now. It costs nothing to check I'll be there on the run tomorrow and I'll bring a new spare one I bought | |

| i think im havin the exact same probem with the caddy atm cuz it died as i pulled out of a junction tonite cuz the wires fell out of the terminal but i have noticed the light at night and the power bein funny | |
