Subject: fuel gauge on me bugs sh*t Sat Apr 30, 2011 9:24 am
as the title says ...it reads sort of never says has more then a quarter a tank and runs out still in the red.....me and slim took it out the tank as far as we could and checked it over...all seems to be movin freely and sh*t....tried the connections for the wirin...all nice and cleaned up still dont work.......any suggestions

Some older senders are common for false reading. You could try bending the rod the floats on till it reads better. Years ago a VW dealer would of had the correct tool to test the sender but I bet they ain't now! The one on the mk1 Polo stays on full for a while then drops like a rock (exploiting its 130 brake makes it fall even faster!) but I just live with it. The one on my triumph was gash... bought a new one for £65 and it was worse!

lol no longer my problem now tom m8 swapped the bug for another bus ....maybe this thread may help someone else avin similar problems
