Well we brought him round to mine this morning! Think Em may already kinda be falling for him lol NO BODY ROLL!!!!!!

heres a few pics of him settling in!

so i'll be starting work on him a bit later, need to sort the choke out so it doesn't idle so high, and need to glue the headliner back into the sunroof seal.

also need to put a new rocker gasket on once it arrives (gotta love having a mum who does the parts in a garage lol)

Theres also a few knocks i wanne bang out of the bonnet, and the only place i found rust, and can you guess where it is....

Thats right, behind the bloody number plate!!!! Why vw dealers felt the need to ignore the factory plate mounts and drill their own i don't know. pisses me off as every dub i've come into contact with has had great rust scabs behind the back plate!!!!! a well, i suppose it gives me and excuse to smooth and debadge it!!

might get jim to remove the vinyl from the b pillars and back window as well today if the weather stays good!!!

Jon.

so today we managed to fix the carb, one wire had broken.......

and solved the oil leak, which is from the rocker gasket and caused by the rocker-breather being blocked by a too-tightly routed breather pipe!

also gave him a good wash+wax and got the stereo fitted. just need to find a couple of 6x4's lol

Oh and jims Jetta spontaneously combusted! A wire dropped onto the exhaust manifold, and caused no end of sh*t around the fusebox! luckily it wasn't an important wire, so he's still on the road lol

spent most of the day in him yesterday, after sorting the dodgy indicator relay out!

Drives lovely, could do with a bit more noise/poke but i'm sure i'll get that sorted.

and it's no where near too low, could do with coming down further on the front and i think spacers may make the arches rub a little, so thinking spring caps may be the way!

Bloody comfy though, and so far, touch wood, has started 1st time every time since i repaired the broken connector on the carb lol

Allthough i did find it a little unnerving when Em pulled onto the A17 next to a lorry, and his wheel was right next to my head...... and we both keep falling out of it coz the floors too close lol

They will mate. Golf mk 2s and 3s, mk 2 Jettas and Ventos share the same suspension design.
