summer gone its time to fit my tuned 1600 gti engine. Ive converved to twin 40 webber carbs, head is a pack C head from Tsr. Fully ported etc highlift cam . Block has performance pistons with lightened crank & internals upgraded . Samco hoses & modified sump. Ashley 4-1 race manifold miltek systen (heat wrapped). Bhp before carb fitted was 145 bhp. Carbs should add good bhp increase. Should be fun in a cab. Post pics shortly.

i went for a 1600 as the engine was in good running order plus it was going for a good price. The 1600 is good to tune up. Was going to fit a 2ltr in her from mk3 i have kicking around but would have been a big job. The 1600 lump shoul d give me simlar Bhp. Easy transplant .

hey up slim rado went a month ago to lass from spilsby. Only used it the odd weekend & i prefer the mk1 anyday. Wife got 2 mk3 gti s plus passat & like all women always gives me the garage bill. Will have another one day but got the mk1 fever again. Thats a nice vr u now have.

Can't blame you for doing a 1.6 as there the same bore as a 1.8 but with the shorter stroke of the 1.6 that got to be one revvy little motor! Would mind to hear/see that in action!

hmm inlets,depends what sort u have,if its the mk2 16v type then yeah they arent too bad,as for the webbers,probably too fiddly but will have a look!
