| Hi all i have been away from the Veedub scene for a while and decided last week i'd like another mk4 golf. Soo after about an hour scouring the internet i was in contact with a lad and arranged to travel 180 miles to him the next day. I bought her not knowing much about it, the advert was very poor and the previous owner just didn't want to give too much info out, anyways i mostly always buy things on a whim and set out to go get the golf from Essex, got there had a look around "paid the man" and i was the owner of a nice little golf ![Smile](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif) She is a 2.0 gti on a 2000 plate Modifications are; R32 rep front bumper R32 rep side skirts R32 rep rear bumper Genuine R32 wheels R32 style exhausts Hella colour magic rear lights Red roof Induction kit Private plate FK coilovers Rear spoiler TT ARB Ect On the way back from picking the golf up she ran like a dream very smooth and nimble (for a golf) anyways just as i got 5 miles away from my local town there was some road works, if any of you are from or travel to Lincolnshire you will know how BAD the roads are! to cut a very long story short i smashed my sump on the bumpy road and had to get towed back Ohh yes its a good en!! ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Mk4r329](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/mk4r329.jpg) The next day i went straight to GSF got a new sump, sealant, oil filter and oil. quickly got it all changed over and i was back on the road £120 down but i was still smiling. From only travelling from near Grimsby to Skegness (30 miles) i had smashed the brand new sump and was fuming! We actually must have the worst roads in the uk!! I couldn't get a tow so had to phone my bro to bring his car transporter trailer to get her home, me not realising how low the car is i cracked and split the front bumper quite bad getting it on the trailer :/ The next day the new sump was at my mates getting welded up and a scuff plate fitted from some ally checker plate i had. All fitted and new oil in ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Mk4r3210](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/mk4r3210.jpg) I then raised the car 10mm just to keep it from scraping cats eyes lol After driving it around for a few days i really thought i had a nice little good looking mk4, obviously some jealous prat thought it looked too nice and decided to undo my wheel nuts while the car was parked on my drive at night, i got in the car the next morning to set off for work and to be honest didn't feel anything different until i got to about 40, i felt a quick wobble a snap, a bang and then the car was nose down sat on the road ![Sad](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_sad.gif) i actually couldn't believe what had happened. Who ever did it could only undo 4 off the front as there is a locking nut and the rears have a separate key, the snap i heard was the locking nut splitting in half as the wheel ripped it off the threads. This is what it did ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Mk4r3211](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/mk4r3211.jpg) To be honest it could have been worse, i was more angry at the fact i had just spent nearly a full day sorting the front bumper out from when i split it getting it on the trailer. It bent all the wing up, smashed the brake disk and cracked the front bumper. I brushed it off and found a new wing so got that fitted straight away and have just been tidying the car up as best i can since. Here is how she looks now, it was slightly different when i got it but there is hell of alot more to change. ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Mk4r324](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/mk4r324.jpg) ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Mk4r326](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/mk4r326.jpg) ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Mk4r328](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/mk4r328.jpg) ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Mk4r32](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/mk4r32.jpg) ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Mk4r325](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/mk4r325.jpg) I will be taking more photos as i go along, as im wanting to get quite alot sorted in the next few weeks, things ive got planned are; R32 brakes or a big brake kit Buy a full poly bush kit and stiffen it up abit I'm going to respray the full car Satin black and the wheels i'm still undecided on but i love the black on black (murdered out) look. Get a full custom stainless exhaust made up with both the exhausts working. Get the windows tinted. Thanks for looking All comments welcome good or bad ![Smile](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif) | |

I'd say the engine is the thing that lets the car down at the mo

| Well slow and low is the way forward, i'm not dissapointed with the 2.0, yea its slow and it doesn't pull as good as a 1.8T but think about things logically, where can you do over the speed limit let alone over 50 mph in a car that scrapes the cats eyes on Lincolnshire's unbelievable shi*e roads?? i've had two 1.8T's and don't rate them to be honest, i'm actually contemplating moving away from Lincolnshire just because i cannot have a nice car.
Most parts of the UK have nice, smooth, comfortable roads. I've spent more on suspension, bushes, ball joints and engine mounts than i ever want to spend again on them, let alone sumps and tyres.
Lincolnshire council needs to sort itself out

| Damn!! I ain't driving round your way, you must have a real deep sump design, my loop sits lower and I've never had any issues with catching the sump, so to smash 2 sumps.....crumbs, I've now red routed the whole of louth!! Looking forward to your progress though mate! | |

| You should get some engine spacers bought, they are about 30 quid from ebay then about 10 quid for bolts from the stealers. | |

| No worries, may save the cost of a sump. Part numbers of bolts you need 4X M10X80mm, which are part number VN 104 062 04 Then you need 1X M8X45mm, which is VN 102 683 04

| Cheers for the info Swainy Ok so a little update I got the bonnet insert screwed into place then spot welded it as well just for good measure, fibre glassed and filled it smooth so that's that sorted. After a good few hours going over the panels on the car i was happy enough to get on spraying, i gave the drivers side of the car another going over with 1200 wet and dry then set about painting her, so far only done the boot and the drivers side as i wanted to get the bonnet mint and found another little bit to skim on the passenger side. I'm really happy with how she's turning out, here's some pics ![Smile](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif) The bonnet notch fill ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Satinblackr323](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/satinblackr323.jpg) ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Satinblackr322](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/satinblackr322.jpg) Pictures of the satin black paint ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Satinblackr328](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/satinblackr328.jpg) ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Satinblackr327](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/satinblackr327.jpg) ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Satinblackr326](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/satinblackr326.jpg) ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Satinblackr325](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/satinblackr325.jpg) ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Satinblackr324](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/satinblackr324.jpg) ![My new project mk4 r32 rep Satinblackr32](https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Jambo2004/mk4%20r32%20rep/satinblackr32.jpg) Thats all i have for now but will update tomorrow when the shell will be finished and ill crack on with the bumpers. | I'd love a set of starmages for my mk2, but they don't come up often and when they do I think they're a bit overpriced. How come your not going TD? My old GTD engine is going in Tom's caddy, should be a right little rocket when he's done with it | |
