Project Meth Rat

He is a lil project we have under taken.
I found this in a storage shed on a caravan site when i went to look for a wheel barrow to borrow.
I just caught a glimpse of the rear light and asked what was happenin with it was told i could have it.
Needed the tires pumping up and so we went for the easy option and just changed the tires.
Its missing a wing mirror, indicator relay and a headlight as far as we know, gonna try and get it through an mot and get it on the road.

AJ has stolen a few bits off it to put on his but its not a lot really.

If you lift that cloth out you can see the 100% mint steel seat base and the factory hole the rats have squeezed through to chew the foam out! Still quite comfy tho!

Just drove it 5 miles down the back road pretty much in "as found" condition! Just put my set of CL 13" steelies on it and took the mounting plate off a mk2 headlamp and screwed it in with one wood screw! Bodged an old battery on it and went for it!!! Even did 70 odd mph with sh*t loads of smoke and embers of burning carbon coming out its exhaust.... least what left of it! Can't believe the brakes work!

Gonna push it onto its side first on Sunday to have a look at its under belly. It looks solid at a glance but I'll smack it about a bit a see what's what. Goes really well for a 1.6 dieseasel! Should be a good parts chaser for me and Chimp!

I couldnt belive this actually got to where were storing it temporaly.
Goin down lo maxs straight crusin at the steady speed of 50 that we was doin the rest of the way and it shocked me that tom actuallystarted to pull infront and i ended up followin him at about 75.

If the METH RAT does have a sound body i will give it proper clean over. I think i will actually get some water on it for the first time in about 4ys he he

Just got a PM from chimp as to this rat! as to pre MOT time.

First thing to check is the shell like peeps already said. Caddy's get abused and left in the sh1te so tend to be rotten.
Also check the seatbelt mounting points, they rot out if the B pillars are fooked.

Just had a quick look under the rear tonight. All the brake pipes on and to the rear beam are in copper bar one steel one and all are in good nick, as are the rear flexi hoses. no rot in the spring hangers. Could just see the front and it looks all rot free too. Its all looking very good just covered in loads of dirt and crud besides checking the front end for rot. The to do list is;-

Fit and new n/s head lamp
Two number plates,
Sort indicators and hazards out,
Run through the brakes,
Sort the exhaust,
Clean off and under seal the underside,
Strip out the interior and clean off everything and check the loom behind the dash for rat damage!
Fit a pair of seats!
Fit a drivers door mirror and a rear view mirror

Then it might pass an mot!

Been underneath this today with Chimp. He cleaned off the underside which wasn't at all pleasant and despite all the old mud underneath the body it has never ever been welded... and doesn't need any for the MOT! The only rust issue is the jaggered edge of the drivers wing so Chimp got one from messyman in red, how goods that? All I did today was knock up two new brake pipe from master cyl to the comp valve and underseal the bugger!

Just needs a rack boot, 2 cv boots, indicator relay, 2 rear wheel cylinders, a tail pipe knocking up and some mirrors now as far as we can see!

Its now low! Can't wait for rolling pics going to inters!

but the question is,have u got rid of the starsky n hutch tyre squeal????lol,sounded funny as fook when i met ya last week!!

Will be gone when the tracking and camber have been set!

oh yeah, forgot chimp texd me earlier, tell him i cant do the tyres til next week, bit bad at work at the mo for doin mates cars and stuff, but boss is off next week.

I thought i would put up a few pics of the rat as i aint been on here in a while.
Not really done to much to her since the last photos.
Got some nice strech on the front now thanx to beese 165/50 15 stops the scraping of the front arches that i got a wheel brace to on the way to GTi International cuz they were killin my tires.
AJ has currently has the tailgate i found out after it went missing one night.

Ive started to sand off some of the paint on the bonnet and the front wings ready for rusting. Mite hide the lil dent that i got from pulling out into a '54 astra on the way to Bug Jam. Split my bumper and pushed it over a bit aswell but still looks good
